hear/listen pt 2

((Apparently my first post didn't work, so let's pretend it never happened))

We hear a lot of information throughout our day that our brains cannot quickly process, so we lose the information. The info we do retain, is listened to.

To put it simply: If you're not interested, you're hearing; if you are interested, you are listening.

We all know the obvious definitions of those two words, but I believe we each have our own personal definitions.

I have a few goals for these blogs:
  • Explore the relationship between these two unappreciated words.
  1. Get the readers to start thinking about their own interpretation of what it is to hear; what it is to listen. (Which leads to...)
  2. Allow a door or two to open within the mind of another person, so that they become curious and interested in this subject.
  • Hopefully bring a different perspective to select relationships, whether they're just friendships and/or 'loveships'.

Also, I am extremely passionate about music, and each day I would like to possibly introduce a new band/sound/genre/appreciation/curiosity to anyone who comes across this blog. If we listen to the music, then the reason is that it affects us emotionally and/or physically. If we hear the music, let's find something else!

  1. I don't quite follow how hearing and listening can lead to a different perspective in relationships. You may want to make that point clearer in future posts. I like the idea of introducing new music each week, and I think your polls and reaction gadgets are nice. Good Job!

  2. Maybe you could make some comments about the way it effects learning, like show some statistics. Also, the types of personalities that are more likely to listen, rather than just hear. That could be interesting.
